St Andrews and Fife wedding photographer
St Andrews and the surrounding Fife coast make for some of the most beautiful wedding locations in Scotland. Historic charm, dramatic coastal views, rolling countryside, and a feeling that you've properly escaped - it's no wonder so many couples choose this part of the world for their big day.
I'm based just outside Glasgow, but St Andrews and Fife are regular locations for me and all travel across central Scotland is included as part of my standard options.
St Andrews & Fife Wedding Venues I Love
Falside Mill, St Andrews. A beautifully restored mill in the countryside just outside St Andrews. Exposed stone, warm wood, and a wonderfully intimate feel that suits smaller, more relaxed weddings. The surrounding countryside gives you loads of options for couple portraits.
Rufflets, St Andrews. A country house hotel with beautiful gardens and a laid-back, boutique feel. The grounds are lovely for photos and the venue has a quiet, grown-up charm that photographs really well.
The Cow Shed, Crail. An absolute gem. A rustic barn venue on the Fife coast with beautiful light, relaxed energy, and a genuinely unique character. One of my favourite venues to shoot at anywhere in Scotland.
These are literally just a few of my favourite spots around St Andrews and Fife - if youโre getting married elsewhere, drop me a message on the contact form and letโs chat about your plans!
Why St Andrews and Fife for Your Wedding?
Fife gives you options you don't get elsewhere in Scotland. You've got the coast - proper coast, with dramatic cliffs, wild beaches, and that North Sea light that photographs brilliantly. You've got historic towns like St Andrews with their ancient streets and the university charm. And you've got countryside venues that feel properly rural without being miles from anywhere.
St Andrews itself is stunning for photography. The ruined cathedral, the castle, West Sands beach - there's no shortage of backdrops if your venue is in or near the town.
The light on the east coast has a different quality to the west. It's cleaner, sharper, and you get incredible mornings. For summer weddings especially, an early start can pay off with some really special getting-ready and morning photos.
What to Expect from Me
I shoot in a relaxed, documentary style. That means I'm focused on capturing the real moments from your day; the emotions, the laughter, the details, the in-between bits that tell the story of the day. No awkward posing, no lengthy photo sessions pulling you away from your guests.
For couple portraits, we'll can take just 20 minutes or longer if you prefer. A walk, a chat, and I'll catch the good bits in between. The rest of the day, I'm in the background photographing as it unfolds.
Getting There
St Andrews is around two hours from my base just outside Glasgow, and Fife generally is well connected by road. My travel is included for all mainland Scotland weddings, so there's nothing for you to arrange on that front.
