Relaxed wedding photography in Glasgow and across Scotland
Almost every enquiry I get starts the same way. Some version of: we're not really photo people.
That’s good. Neither is nearly everyone I photograph. It has never once been a problem.
I'm David. I'm a wedding photographer based just outside Glasgow, and I've photographed hundreds of weddings across Scotland over the last ten years. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire, Perthshire, Fife, the Borders, and a fair few places in between.
What that means on the day is that I'm not going to pose you for hours or take you away from your guests. But I'm not going to disappear either. I'll keep the family photos moving, I'll tell people where they need to be, and if something's running late I'll help sort it. Most of the day I'm in the background photographing what's actually happening. The rest of the time I'm just another pair of hands.
The pictures you'll end up loving most are the ones nobody planned.
Creative, authentic wedding photography you’ll want to relive over and over again.
What the day actually looks like.
I'll turn up in the morning and start photographing while everyone's still getting ready. I'll talk to your loved ones. I'll get to know your pals. By the time anything important happens, I'm just another person in the room, which is the whole point - people stop noticing the camera, and that's when the good stuff happens.
We'll do the family groups properly, and we'll do them quickly. Nobody has ever looked back fondly on forty-five minutes of standing about.
Then, at some point in the afternoon, both of you and me will go for a short walk. Not a photoshoot. A walk, and a blether. That's it.
The rest of the day, I'm somewhere in the background, watching for the bits you'll miss because you were busy enjoying them.

My wedding photography collections currently range from around £950 to £2400+ depending on hours of coverage, with most couples choosing a 6-hour or 10-hour package. Full pricing and what's included is on the weddings page. I also offer a combined photo + video service working alongside some amazing filmmaker friends.

Traditional photography is posed and directed - think lined-up portrait shots and "look at the camera" moments. Documentary photography captures things as they actually happen, with little to no direction. Editorial wedding photography is popular at the moment and works great for some of those more intentional, gently directed shots that take inspiration from fashion magazines. Most couples want a mix: relaxed, documentary for the day, with a few more intentional shots woven in.

Popular dates and Saturdays in peak season (April–September) tend to book up 12–18 months ahead. If your date's close, it's still worth asking: availability depends on the specific dates and is hard to predict..
-
Yes. Intimate weddings and elopements are photographed in exactly the same relaxed and creative approach as larger weddings - my collections are designed to scale to the hours you need and we can do something bespoke if neither option works for you.

Yes, all couples are welcome!

Scottish weather is unpredictable, so I always have a plan B for this. I am keen to embrace the conditions when it isn’t ideal as well. However, we can use indoor spots, any sheltered walkways, or spaces within your venue. There’s usually always a spot we can find for couple or group photos!
-
Yes, of course. I always share a pre-wedding questionnaire with my couples to collect any specific family / group photos and happy to hear of any specific ideas you have for the day.

Yes, you'll pick from your full online gallery. For albums, I'll help put together a design based on your favourites.
