Loch Lomond wedding photographer

Loch Lomond is about as close to a guaranteed stunning backdrop as you can get in Scotland. The loch, the mountains, the ancient woodland - it's dramatic without trying, and it photographs beautifully in every season and every weather condition.

It's also practically on my doorstep. I'm based just outside Glasgow, which puts Loch Lomond well within reach, and I've photographed weddings at many venues along the loch and across the surrounding area. My travel is included as part of my standard packages.

Loch Lomond Wedding Venues I Love

Boturich Castle. Perched above the loch with jaw-dropping views. The castle itself is intimate and full of character, and the grounds are stunning for portraits. The combination of stone walls, ancient trees, and that loch backdrop makes it one of the most photogenic venues I've ever worked at.

Lodge on Loch Lomond, Luss. A waterfront venue with panoramic views across the loch to the mountains beyond. The beach, the jetty, and the terrace give you loads of options for your ceremony and photos, and it's hard to beat for a classic Loch Lomond setting.

Loch Lomond Waterfront, Balmaha. A laid-back, relaxed venue right on the loch with wooden lodges, a private beach, and that quiet, away-from-it-all vibe. Perfect for couples who want something more intimate and outdoorsy.

The Cruin, Loch Lomond. Set on the eastern shore with incredible views over the loch, The Cruin is beautifully designed with that modern Scottish feel. Great light, great location, and a venue that photographs beautifully throughout the day.

Fruin Farm, Helensburgh. A gorgeous rustic farm venue in the hills just above Loch Lomond. Ancient barns, rolling countryside, and a real sense of seclusion. If you're after something more rural with genuine character, Fruin is hard to beat.

Why Loch Lomond for Your Wedding?

I've photographed weddings in a lot of beautiful places across Scotland, but Loch Lomond has something that's hard to put into words. It's the scale of it - the way the loch stretches out with Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps rising behind it. It gives your photos a sense of place and drama that you just can't get anywhere else.

The light changes constantly too. On a clear day, you get reflections on the loch that look almost surreal. When the clouds roll in and the mist sits low on the mountains, it's moody and atmospheric and absolutely stunning to shoot. And in autumn, when the trees around the loch turn, the colours are incredible.

What I love most is that the landscape does the heavy lifting. For your couple shots, we don't need any elaborate setups. We just go for a walk, take in the views, and I capture the two of you in the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the world.

What to Expect from Me

I shoot in a relaxed, documentary style. That means I'm focused on capturing the real moments from your day; the emotions, the laughter, the details, the in-between bits that tell the story of the day. No awkward posing, no lengthy photo sessions pulling you away from your guests.

We'll spend about 20 minutes on couple portraits - a walk, a chat, and I'll catch the good bits in between. The rest of the day, I'm there in the background, photographing the story as it unfolds.

Getting There

Loch Lomond is about 30-40 minutes from Glasgow, depending on which end of the loch your venue is on. It's well connected by road, and most venues offer accommodation for guests, which means people can stay over and enjoy the area. That usually means a more relaxed day and a better party.

One thing worth flagging: in winter, daylight around Loch Lomond is limited, so if you're planning a winter wedding here it's worth having a chat about when to schedule your photos to make the most of the available light. I'm always happy to help with this.
