Ayrshire wedding photographer
Ayrshire is one of my favourite parts of Scotland to photograph weddings, and it's easy to see why so many couples choose it. Rolling countryside, dramatic coastline, Burns country charm, and some of the best wedding venues in Scotland - all within easy reach of Glasgow.
I regularly photograph weddings across Ayrshire, from the coast around Ayr and Troon to the countryside venues further inland, and my travel is included as part of my standard packages. Read on to find out a few of my favourite spots!
Ayrshire Wedding Venues I Love
I've had the pleasure of photographing weddings at some of Ayrshire's finest venues:
Enterkine House, Annbank. A privately owned country house hotel on a 350-acre estate, approached by a stunning tree-lined driveway that's made for couple portraits. The handcrafted Oak Glass Pavilion is the showpiece; full of natural light with views across the grounds and down to the River Ayr. Around 35 minutes from Glasgow.
The Waterside Hotel, West Kilbride. A coastal wedding venue right on the water's edge with panoramic views across to the Isle of Arran. The Ailsa Lounge opens onto private gardens and a boardwalk leading straight to the beach, and sunset photos here with Arran as the backdrop are hard to beat.
Western House Hotel, Ayr. A stunning four-star hotel with beautiful private gardens, a gorgeous tree-lined driveway, and an outdoor ceremony option that's hard to beat on a good day. Award-winning for a reason.
Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock. Surrounded by countryside with a lovely lochside setting. The grounds give you loads of options for portraits, and the team there are fantastic.
Brig o' Doon, Alloway. A classic Ayrshire venue in the heart of Burns country. The bridge itself is iconic, the gardens are beautiful, and the whole setting has a romantic charm that photographs brilliantly.
Roodlea Barn, South Ayrshire. If you're after something more rustic, Roodlea is brilliant. A converted barn with character, great light, and a relaxed atmosphere that suits my style perfectly.
Why Ayrshire for Your Wedding?
Ayrshire gives you options that are hard to find elsewhere. You've got so many stunning West Coast venues with sea views and dramatic skies. You've got countryside estates with rolling hills and ancient woodland. You've got elegant hotels and rustic barns. Whatever your vision for the day, there's an Ayrshire venue that fits. I find myself at some of these spots every single year and I absolutely love them all.
The light on the Ayrshire coast is particularly special. Being on the west coast, you get incredible sunsets, and in summer the golden hour seems to last forever. For your couple photos, that west-facing light is just perfect.
It's also really accessible. Most Ayrshire venues are 30โ50 minutes from Glasgow, making it easy for guests to travel, and there's no shortage of accommodation options for those who want to stay over and make a weekend of it.
What to Expect from Me
My approach is the same wherever I shoot - relaxed, documentary-style photography that captures the real moments from your day. No stiff posing, no lengthy photo sessions pulling you away from your guests. Just your wedding, as it actually happened and shot beautifully.
I know Ayrshire really well. I know where the light falls at different venues, I know the best spots for your couple photos and groups, and I know how to make the most of what Ayrshire's landscapes have to offer; whether that's a dramatic coastal backdrop or a quiet garden tucked behind a country hotel.
